KEITH FENSTAD's FairmontI found this car in the classifieds section of the clevleand message board in 2004 and brought it all the way from Montana to Houston, TX. Nothing too fancy. It's a +.030" Cleveland 4-bolt bock with bushed lifters on the pass side. Stock crank and rods with polished beams and good bolts. 12.5 dome pistons, iron 4V heads with minor port work, bullet solid flat tappet, Strip Dominator intake and 750 holley with 2" HVH tapered spacer. MSD with Digital 6 box and HVC Coil. Runs a PG trans with brake, 5700 stall and 5.14 gears.
Over the years I've upgraded different things and started running in a local 1/8 mile Index series. Won 2 races on '06 and 3 (back to back) in 2007. Although I run in the 7.0 index, the car has run a best of 6.78 @ 102 on motor and 6.39 @108 on a 100 shot of N2O (just for fun). I'm just about done with a refresh on the motor and trans and looking to run the 6.60 class this year.

Almost ready!

Update (Sept, 2008)
I made about a dozen passes or so on the freshened motor earlier this year before splitting a cylinder. Come to find out the block was trash. This time around, I did things a little different. Found another 4-bolt block, had it sonic tested, filled with Harkblok up to 1 1/2" of the deck before boring .030". Fitted an FPS main girdle. all to house a new all forged SCAT 408 stroker kit. Also, milled the heads some and did some very minor port work.
With essentially the same motor plus 50 cubic inches and about a .5 point more compression, I ran low 6.40s on it's maiden trip with no tuning. Only have two passes so far but all looks good. May need to tweak the converter some still.

And here's a link to a video during break-in.
